A short guide for MYOB users

Recording daily sales in MYOB

The Amaka integration that automatically synced your Lightspeed sales, payments and tax totals into MYOB is being retired. This means these totals will now be recorded in MYOB manually.

The good news is that all the figures you need are still right there in Lightspeed’s Register Closure Summary.

How to do it

This guide walks you through finding that summary, saving a copy, and understanding what each figure means, so you can keep your MYOB records up to date with confidence.

Open your “Register Closure Summary” in Lightspeed

• Go to Reporting

• Click Register Closures

• Select the date of the closure you want to open.

Save the summary as a PDF

• With the closure open, click the three dots (or upward arrow) in the top-right of your Chrome window.

• Click Print.

• In the Destination drop-down, choose Save as PDF (or your printer).

• Click Save / Print and keep the file with your daily records.

Enter into MYOB

• Use the figures on the summary to record the day’s sales in your existing MYOB daily-sales entry. The table below explains what each figure means.

Entering totals in MYOB

Record the day’s figures from your summary into your existing MYOB daily-sales entry: the total sales value, the tax (GST), any discounts, and each payment type (for example cash and card/EFTPOS).

MYOB uses different names to Lightspeed and doesn’t have fields named “Account sales”, “Layaway sales” or “Delivery and pickup”. These are simply part of your normal sales and payment figures rather than separate boxes. Enter everything the way your MYOB file is already set up. If you’re unsure which accounts or tax codes apply to your business, please check with your accountant or bookkeeper.

One thing to watch: Payments on a closure can relate to sales made on an earlier day (for example, an account payment). If a payment total doesn’t match that day’s new sales, that’s normal, so check it against the relevant sale rather than forcing the numbers to balance.
