allO

Founded in 2020 in Munich, allO is a modern, cloud-native POS and payment platform. It was built with the idea to “end the chaos” for independent restaurants by centralizing in-house service and third-party delivery (UberEats, Lieferando, Wolt) into one sleek interface. Its primary markets are independent restaurants, Asian restaurants, and express dining venues in the DACH region and Europe.

How Lightspeed wins or loses over allO

Why we win

Why we lose

Enterprise scalability

Lightspeed supports multi-location groups and franchises, whilst allO is focuses on single-unit locals.

Agility

Being smaller, allO can often pivot and launch niche features requested by the German community faster than a global firm.

Features

Lightspeed offers deeper inventory and reporting tools that are designed for complex businesses.

Specialization on Asian restaurants

With allO, it’s possible to configure the POS and Back Office in Mandarin, and they prioritize integrations with popular Asian payment methods (such as WeChat Pay and Alipay) alongside standard German methods.

Integration ecosystem

180+ integrations, whilst allO is a young ecosystem with significantly fewer third-party integrations.

UX & design

Because it was built in 2020, allO’s interface is extremely clean, requiring almost zero training for staff.

Financial stability

As a public company with 20 years of history and experience, Lightspeed offers long-term security, whilst allO is a seed-stage startup.

Built-in delivery

allO’s delivery integrations (Lieferando, Wolt, Uber Eats) are directly built into its core software, resulting in no additional monthly costs and a faster setup.

Contract flexibility

allO offers flexible monthly plans with the option to cancel anytime.

Questions & answers

“allO saves me a lot of money because their delivery integrations are built-in and don’t require an extra monthly fee.”

allO does a great job of marketing their ‘free’ delivery sync. However, those savings are typically baked into the higher software tier or transaction fees.
Lightspeed’s delivery integration isn’t just a ‘sync’—it’s a data engine. We allow you to manage multiple menus, change pricing specifically for delivery, and see Advanced Insights on which delivery platforms are actually profitable vs. which ones are costing you money in hidden fees. We help you make more money, not just save on a bridge fee.

💡 Selling tip:

If you are up against allO to win an Asian restaurant, don’t fight the language feature. Instead, fight on stability, complexity, and growth opportunities for their business.

“I’m choosing allO because my kitchen staff and servers speak Mandarin as a first language.”

That’s understandable; if your chefs need Chinese characters to work effectively, that is a huge advantage for allO. But ask yourself: do you want to be dependent on a system that limits who you can hire? In today’s labor market, finding staff is the #1 challenge. With allO, you are locked into a niche ecosystem.
Lightspeed uses a visual, icon-based interface that is language-agnostic. We can set up your kitchen tickets to be bilingual (e.g., ‘Gong Bao Chicken / 宫保鸡丁’). This allows you to hire the best talent available—regardless of their native language—while ensuring your kitchen never misses a beat. While allO provides a comfortable language bridge for today, we provide the professional infrastructure you need so that your business is never limited by a single language, a single hiring pool, or the financial instability of a young startup.

“With allO, I can just use my existing phones and iPads, so I don’t have to spend a cent on new hardware.”

That sounds great in theory, and for a simple café, it might work. But I’d encourage you to ask them one specific question: ‘How do I print a receipt or scan a discount code at the table using just my iPhone?’
This isn’t very visible on their website, but they will suggest their ‘allO Go’ handheld device. While it’s a slick device, it’s a proprietary Android unit. If you buy it, you’re locked into their system, and it’s not as quick to replace.
At Lightspeed, we use Tap to Pay on iPhone, so you’re using pro-grade Apple hardware you already know. If a device fails, you can log in on any other iPhone and keep your business moving instantly. We don’t hide the hardware reality—we give you the most reliable way to run a high-volume floor.
